Talent Gate
Talent Gate project connects jobseekers with companies with recruitment needs and aims to make the Mikkeli region an even more attractive employment area. In practice, the project supports and develops the recruitment processes of local companies, links jobseekers with available positions, and builds new networks to strengthen recruitment efforts. The project works in close cooperation with the local employment pilot (Mikkeli region employment municipality pilot) and the local employment office, while also enhancing the involvement of other stakeholders in a comprehensive manner.
It is becoming increasingly difficult to find skilled applicants for open positions in South Savo. The regional labour market has tightened, and companies are experiencing growing recruitment challenges. In addition, projections extending to 2040 show that Finland’s labour market will continue to lose an increasing number of workers each year (source: Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, Labour Market Map 2023).
Skilled labour has been identified as one of six key themes in the City of Mikkeli’s Growth Program. International jobseekers represent significant potential in terms of both improving access to skilled labour for companies in the Mikkeli region and increasing the overall employment rate.
This project aims to improve the match between unemployed jobseekers and the recruitment needs of businesses at the regional level. The alignment between new labour market entrants and companies seeking skilled workers will be strengthened through close cooperation with local employment pilot (Mikkeli region employment municipality pilot) and the local employment office. The project will identify hidden job opportunities, enhance the attractiveness and retention capacity of employers facing recruitment difficulties, and develop their employer image, recruitment skills, and overall recruitment processes. A cross-cutting theme of the project is to increase the share of international talent in the region’s workforce.
As a result of Talent Gate project, the participating unemployed jobseekers will more effectively identify open positions in the region and find employment. Companies will have filled vacancies with skilled professionals and become familiar with the regional support network that assists them in recruitment. Recruitment events will also have been organised in the region.
The project supports and develops companies’ recruitment processes, connects jobseekers with open positions, builds new networks to assist in recruitment, and organises recruitment events. The work is carried out in cooperation with local employment pilot and the local employment office while also strengthening the overall involvement of other stakeholders.
