Adaptation of Mikkeli region companies to climate change

The aim of the project is to explore what climate change means in practice for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Mikkeli region and to support companies in proactively and practically adapting to climate risks. The project will produce new, regionally compiled information on how changing climate conditions affect business operations in the area across various industries.

The focus is on the perspective of companies, and the overall picture will be complemented with input from a network of experts. The project will identify the current information needs and capabilities of companies, strengthen their expertise in recognizing climate risks, and develop cooperation and operational models that help companies adapt to changes. Another goal is to enhance dialogue between companies, authorities, and experts, and to establish a functioning regional collaboration structure to support further development.

As a result of the project, a comprehensive situational overview will be created, along with practical examples of companies that have identified climate risks and developed their own operational models. A clear and accessible guide summarizing the key findings and recommendations of the project will also be produced. The results will be shared openly and made available for use by companies, municipalities, authorities, and educational institutions.
