DiTek – productivity, growth and competitiveness for businesses through the adoption of digital technologies

The Ditek project offers companies the opportunity to experiment with and adopt new digital technologies, find growth and partners in international markets, and gain expert support and networks — with a low threshold and a practical approach.

Why does the project exist?

The goal of the Ditek project is to strengthen the productivity, growth, and competitiveness of technology industry companies and other manufacturing businesses in the Mikkeli region through digitalization and new technologies.

The project supports companies in:

  • increasing awareness and competence related to new technologies

  • adopting and implementing digital and technological solutions

  • developing research, development, and innovation (RDI) activities

  • finding skilled workforce

  • building networks and partnerships

  • expanding to international markets.

What does the project do?

  1. Co-creation workshops and internationalization
The project organizes workshops on emerging technologies such as computer vision, augmented reality (AR), digital twins, and robotics. It also provides tools and networks that support internationalization, such as AI Finland and the Digital Innovation Hub.

  2. Prototype Labs and technology experiments
Twelve “ProtoLabs” will be organized based on company needs. These involve rapid, software-based experiments and prototypes testing technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and AR/XR. Hackathons and development sprints serve as recruitment channels for new talent.

  3. Further development, RDI collaboration, and funding solutions
The project encourages and supports companies in applying for funding for digitalization projects. New research, development, and innovation (RDI) initiatives are launched in collaboration with LUT University, South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences (Xamk), and Tampere University (TUNI).

  4. Communication and awareness-raising
The project produces podcasts, videos, and articles, and organizes events to reach and inspire a wide audience.

  • Expert support is available as a purchased service.

Support for exports and internationalization

  • Access to digital tools (e.g., Vainu) and international networks that help identify new markets and partners.

Support in finding funding and development partners

  • Guidance and sparring to utilize funding channels such as ELY Centre, Business Finland, and various foundations for further development of prototypes.

  • Connections with universities and RDI organizations (LUT University, Xamk, and Tampere University).

Visibility and communication support

  • Podcasts and videos offer companies the opportunity to showcase their innovations, gain positive visibility, and serve as inspiring examples for others.
