DELTA – Data industry ecosystem, business and RDI value creation

The DELTA project responds to a situation in which substantial data centre and digital infrastructure investments are being directed to the region, while the business, RDI and regional economic benefits generated by these investments are not yet being linked in a sufficiently systematic way to local SMEs, expertise and development activities.

The project structures the data industry ecosystem in South Savo, identifies its actors, value chains and development potential, and mobilizes SMEs to participate in data economy driven business opportunities. At the same time, the project will strengthen local companies’ capabilities to operate in new supply and service chains, develop practical operating models that support interaction between companies and data centre operators, and identify company-driven RDI and piloting needs.

The DELTA project will produce a situational picture of the ecosystem, develop structures for co-creation, and pilot solutions, such as a supplier register, that improves the match between companies and investments in the region. In addition, the project will create conditions for the emergence of new business, particularly from the perspective of the data economy. The project
will also prepare a regional RDI agenda for the data economy and its implementation plan, and establish a permanent operating model for ecosystem development as part of the Memory Campus cluster.

As a result of the DELTA project, South Savo will gain a stronger shared situational awareness, a more active group of companies, a clearer RDI agenda, and a more permanent cooperation structure, through which the business impacts of data centre investments, regional value creation and data economy business opportunities will increase.
