Development Programs

Our development programs support regional vitality and business success in Mikkeli. Our work focuses on circular economy, sustainability, tourism promotion, second home living, business development, and investment promotion.

Through these projects, we put into practice the strategic goals of the City of Mikkeli. The aim is to create new jobs, services, and investments in the region. Each project is implemented according to an approved project plan and monitored in line with the funding authority’s requirements.

Project-based operations account for around 75 % of MikseiMikkeli’s activities. As structural fund resources are expected to decrease from 2028 onwards, we have expanded our competence in direct EU funding. Our first five Interreg projects alone will bring €2.5 million in direct EU funding to the Mikkeli region.
